Big Sexy Hairspray

As you will know from my previous post, on Thursday evening I attended a blogging event run by South Beach Official. At the end of the event, we were lucky to receive a gift bag full to the brim of amazing beauty products, vouchers, holiday accessories and more! One of the items in the gift bag was a can of "Big Sexy Hair" hairspray- a brand that I have heard so much about recently and was eager to try out for myself! So I decided to put the product to the test and see if it lived up to its high expectations...

To achieve this hair style I curled my hair from about 1/3 of the way down with my GHD's, taking one section at a time and slowly working my way around my head. (tip: if you leave the top 1/3 of your hair from the root down straight it is much easier to style and hold in place once you get to the backcombing stage!) Once I had made sure every section of my hair had been curled, I tipped my head upside down and gave it a good spray with the "Big Sexy Hair" hairspray. As soon as I had flipped my hair back it instantly felt like it had much more bounce, and the hairspray dried almost instantly, but avoided leaving that horrible crusty feeling that most cheap hairsprays tend to provide! Taking the top layer of my hair, I backcombed it using a fine comb on the underside of my hair, and spritzed it with hairspray once more before clipping into place, creating the beehive/ quiff pictured above.

The hairspray promotes itself as the driest hairspray on the market and boasts of its thickening and bulidable hold qualities. In the past I find that my hair and hairspray either go one of two ways as around an hour after application I am either left with rock hard, crusty hair, or my hair has simply turned into a floppy mess, with the remains of hairspray making it look greasy... so where I can I always avoid the product! However, I have to admit I am now a converted woman... yes I have only used this product once, but the results from that one application were enough to convert me to the world of hairspray.

Thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway, it is now over and I will be announcing the winner over the next few days! Make sure you leave your comments below as I love reading them and always try and reply to every single one!

#SOUTHBEACHSUMMER Event

Hello lovelies... I feel as though I must start this post with an apology as it has been almost a week since I last blogged, which is a very rare occurrence for me! However, I have been extremely busy with exams and sorting out accommodation for when I move to London in 9 days for my placement (aaahhh I'm so excited!!!!)

Last night I had one of the best nights I've had in a long time! I attended South Beach Official's blogger event #SouthBeachSummer, held in Lola's bar in the Northern Quarter in Manchester. The event kicked off at six, where we were greeted with the news that we could help our selves to as many free cocktails off their specially designed cocktail list as we wished (knowledge that instantly made me regret my decision to drive to the event). Nevertheless I opted for the Virgin non-alcoholic cocktail, which was a fruity, refreshing icy concoction that was one of the most delicious things I have tasted in a long while, and it just looked so pretty! (Little did I know that the presentation of the drinks would be nothing in comparison with the unbelievable cake heaven which was provided in the room next door!)

The event was a chance for South Beach to showcase their Summer range to us bloggers, and the fashion certainly did not disappoint! The range included some of the nicest bikinis I have ever laid eyes on, and I absolutely fell in love with all their super cool rucksacks, perfect for taking with you if you're off on your travels this summer! The adjacent room to the main bar contained even more treats as we were all treated to a free OPI manicure from the lovely ladies at Skin Health Spa. I opted for a bright pink colour to add a flash of summery colour to my monochrome outfit. At the back of the room was what can only be described as actual heaven on earth in the form of the most incredible cakes I have ever laid eyes on. Unfortunately for me this was a "look but don't touch" scenario due to my wheat allergy, but I have never wanted to self-induce an allergic reaction more in my life!!

There was also a super fun "photo-booth" style area with a backdrop and props, and who doesn't love a pair of novelty sunglasses after a few cocktails?! Not only was the event itself a fantastic taste of what summer has in store, but I also got to meet loads of other fabulous Manchester based bloggers, including Abi of Kemples, Emma of MissPond, Ebony of Meticulously Organised Chaos and Beckie of BeckieRackham so make sure you check them out too!

White on White

I'm wearing: Topshop White Dress;

I've been meaning to post this OOTD for a while now, but what with exams and general life being extremely busy I never got round to writing it! But here we are on a rainy Saturday afternoon, with one exam out of the way, and as promised the post is finally here...

I bought this gorgeous little white Topshop dress about a week ago in Selfridges at the Trafford Centre, and I thought it would be perfect to take on my holidays with me in summer! It's such a lovely night fabric that is elasticated at the waist to create shape, and has a separate cropped top over-lay which ends just under the waistband, meaning the elastic is hidden. Personally I've already worn this dress on two different occasions in the gorgeous weather that we had (although, sadly it seems to have come to an end!), and both times I casually styled it with my white Juju jelly shoes, and threw on a chunky cardigan as it got cooler in the evenings. The dress itself is so versatile though, as it could also be thrown on over a bikini with a pair of flipflops on the beach, or styled with some wedges and a clutch bag for a gorgeous summer evening look!

What gorgeous weather we have had this week (she says whilst it's currently raining, but hey, we knew it wouldn't last forever!) It's been another very busy week for me, and I am currently in absolute panic mode as I have an exam tomorrow that I am completely dreading! I have always been one of those people who completely over thinks everything and I always play out the worst possible scenario in my head, so right now I'm trying to distract my mind in anyway possible to avoid completely stressing myself out.

I did have a few lovely things to look forward to this week amongst all the last minute revision stress, as it was my four year anniversary, so me and my boyfriend went on a day trip to Llandudno! The weather was gorgeous and it was just so peaceful sitting eating ice cream on the pier in the sun without having to worry about exams or coursework for a few hours. My mum and me have always been incredibly close, and she knows what a stresser I am, so it was lovely to return home to a gorgeous ted baker pen set as a little motivational present. I just have to keep reminding myself that in two weeks exams will be over and summer will be upon us and I cannot wait!!

Temporary Tattoos with WWW.FAKETATTOOS.SE*

Hello again! I firstly just want to say that recently I have been bombarded with loads of lovely blog comments, tweets and instagram comments, so thank you very much! I love reading all your messages and I promise I will always try and reply to you!

One of my favourite things about being a blogger is that I get the opportunity to try products that I wouldn't necessarily otherwise choose, so I was delighted when the company "Fake Tattoos" contacted me, and sent me some free samples of their products to test out. I was sent two body tattoos, and two sets of nail tattoos (which are literally the cutest things I have no idea how I never knew they existed before now!!) All of the tattoos were super easy to apply, and you only need water to do so! They would be great to buy for a girls night in or a sleepover, or even just for yourself if you fancy a tattoo for a short period. The products are supposed to last anywhere between 5-10 days and are averagely priced at around £3, so you really get a lot of wear for your money! The tattoos are resistant to water and soap, so you should have no trouble washing, however be careful of oil based products, as oil will dissolve the tattoo and it may rub off

Out of all the products I was sent to sample, the nail tattoos are by far my favourite! You literally apply them with water over your dry nail varnish and the design is instantly transferred onto your nail! After application, make sure you use a good quality top coat to make sure the design stays in place for even longer! I think these little bird designs look so fab with my amazing boohoo bus nails from Sunday! If you like the look of these tattoos make sure you pop over to the website by clicking HERE and have a look at their fab designs for yourself! I was so pleasently surprised with these products, they are much higher quality than i expected, are super easy to apply and are perfect for someone like me who is so indecisive I would never commit to a permanent tattoo but would still love to try the trend out for myself!

Leave your comments below and let me know what you think of these temporary tattoos. I would also love it if you would follow THIS LINK and vote for my blog in the best new beauty blog category! All Aboard the Boohoo Bus

Hello lovely readers! Firstly what an absolutely beautiful weekend we are having! I just can't get enough of this sun it's so gorgeous (but really hard to motivate yourself to revise!), Why is it that life always seems to bring its heat waves at prime revision times?! Today, I decided the weather was just too gorgeous to stay in working all day, so I nipped out on a revision break to visit the Boohoo bus in Manchester's piccadilly gardens, and what a fun revision break it was!

Boohoo situated their amazing "Boohoo bus" in Manchester over the weekend in order to help them gain votes to win "Best online retailer" in Lorraine's High Street Fashion Awards, so make sure you pop on over to boohoo's website where you can find all the details of how to vote!

The downstairs of the bus featured some of their new clothes and styles for summer, and I found some gorgeous really cheap beach dresses that I cannot wait to order online. Flat screen televisions were blasting out summer music and showcasing more of boohoo's summer range, whilst accessories and shoes were showcased on shelving built into the sides of the bus. Upstairs there was a free nail parlour where you could sit, relax and enjoy a nail art manicure completely for free! I decided to go for the "half moon" design and chose watermelon pastel colours for something fresh, summery and fun! The free goodies did not stop here however, as I also received a goody bag on my way out.

I had such a great time, so thank you so much to Boohoo for having me!

Patch Pocket Dungarees

I'm wearing; Crop Top, Topshop; Dungarees, Topshop, JuJu Jelly Shoes

It's been a little while since I've done an ootd post, and since the weather has been so lovely I decided to share with you my go to spring/summer transitional look! I absolutely LOVE dungarees, they're such a cute casual way to style out the playsuit look, and can be worn in so many ways! I bought this pair from Topshop last year, however they have some gorgeous new styles in stock so make sure you check out their website. I have this Topshop crop top in about 4 different colours, they are such handy staple summer items that can be styled with high waisted shorts, dungarees, skirts or thrown on over a bikini so I'd really recommend stocking up as they're so great for when you want to flash a little bit more flesh.

As those of you who have read my previous post will know, I bought these JuJu Jelly Shoes from Topshop the other day, and have literally lived in them ever since! They remind me so much of wearing jelly shoes on the beach when I was younger, and I just absolutely love the chunky heal and cut out sections of these sandals! Plus they were only £24 which I thought was really quite a bargain!

This week I was planning on saving all my money and getting some really intense revision done, and although the work could be going worse, the no money spending is definitely something I am not sticking to! Firstly I bought the Nikon 1 J3 that I have been lusting after for quite a while. It is such a fantastic compact camera with a great lens and takes incredibly high resolution, clear, bright pictures. The camera is usually £550, but I managed to buy it for £249, so I feel like I've scooped myself a good bargain there!! On Tuesday evening I decided to give myself a bit of a revision break and took myself off to the Trafford Centre to buy some much needed summer clothes. I bought some lovely printed denim high waisted shorts, a summer dress and some JuJu Jelly shoes (all of which will most probably be featured in an ootd in the near future).

Last Saturday me and my mum went for lunch at the Alchemist in Manchester, one of my absolute favourite restaurants. This was followed by a trip to the theatre to watch "Dial M for Murder" which was absolutely fantastic.

Leave comments below and let me know what you've been up to this week! I love hearing from you and always try to reply to as many comments as possible. I am also condidering starting a youtube channel linked to my blog where I will post ootd, makeup tutorials and haul posts, so if this is something you would like to see please do comment below so I can decide whether it's a direction I want to move my blog into.
