Modelling with Motel Rocks!

If you follow me on twitter or instagram then you will already be aware that last Thursday I headed down to London to do a photoshoot with Motel Rocks!

Braving the cold weather, we headed out around Soho to shoot some amazing outfits! (All links to the products are at the bottom of this post!). I had the most amazing time shooting all the looks and have literally fallen in LOVE with those amazinggggg trousers and of course the green gabby dress. Absolutely perfect for the Christmas party season, and surprisingly comfortable too! I usually find the sequin dresses can be really itchy and irritating, but the fabric of this dress was actually velvet meaning it was so soft and lovely to wear!

Leave me your lovely comments below and let me know what you think of these outfits! I'd also absolutely love it if you'd follow me on my social media channels and also on bloglovin'

Roger & Gallet 'Lait Sorbet' Body Lotion*

Literally the stuff that dreams are made of. Sugary, sherbetty, sorbet smelling dreams of deliciousness! As if I didn't need an excuse to add any more body lotions to my already ginormous (and ever growing) stash of them, I couldn't resist when I was told about the new 'Lait Sorbet' range from Roger and Gallet.

With four different body lotions in the range, each with their own unique properties and soft fruity smell, there will definitely be a product within this range to support your needs and tastes. I was sent the 'Feel Firmer' lotion, containing ginger and aloe vera and the 'Feel Revitalised' sorbet with apricot oil and aloe vera to sample.... and ever since getting out of the bath and lathering both lotions over my body (one on each half, just to be fair), I literally can not stop smelling myself. I appreciate this is an incredibly odd thing to say, and probably an ever odder thing to admit. But they just smell S E N S A T I O N A L.

The apricot infused lotion is light and fruity, and promises to soften the skin and revitalise the mind. For me, this is the perfect combination of properties as I am the world's biggest stresser, and this stress tends to bring me out in a mix of eczema and dry skin patches... therefore a product that will help benefit both of these problems is a winner in my eyes. The ginger lotion provides 24 hour hydration along with aiding the firming of skin. After only one application, I am yet to tell whether the promised lasting skin firming effects are true, however I have to admit it did provide an instant 'tightening' effect.

Both sorbet lotions offer a similar texture and consistency... both were more runny than I was initially expecting, however this works hugely to the products advantage meaning a small amount goes a long way, and it aids the product in soaking into the skin quicker meaning you don't have to sit around waiting for the awkward 'touch dry' sticky phase to pass. The application process is perfect, as the soap dispenser esque bottles mean that you don't have to messily dig your hand into a tub or squeeze far too much out of a tube. Instead, the perfect amount of product is dispensed each time meaning you can manageably apply as much or as little as required.

Over all I would give these products a solid 9/10 and am definitely intrigued to try out the other 'flavours'. Leave me your lovely comments below and let me know if these are something you fancy trying! If you do, you can get your hands on them HERE. (Trust me, if nothing else, your noses will thank you)

NV Chunky Lip Crayons*

Lipstick is one of my favourite make up items. I own more lipsticks than any thing else, and change my mind about my favourite brand and colour all the time. Recently, there has been a massive buzz within the blogging world about 'lip crayons'- and I have jumped on board the bandwagon after being approached by 'NV Colour' about trying out some of their products.

The first amazing thing to note about these products is that they are effectively giant crayolas... i.e. literally the best thing that has happened to the beauty world in a long time. They just look so cute!!! Excitement about their resemblance being the cause of many nostalgic childhood memories aside, the products themselves are actually A M A Z I N G.

And I promise you I am not exaggerating. The problem with lipstick is that it can be incredibly dry, and also quite tricky to apply. I can't be the only person who thinks that the pointed nib of a lipstick actually makes it harder to apply accurately?! The 'crayon' idea completely eliminates that problem... providing a thick nip which glides smoothly over the lips for completely even application. I was completely shocked at how moist these products actually were, and how moisturising they felt on the lips. The only way I can describe the texture is to say that they provide the intense colour of a lipstick, with the moisturisation of lipgloss or lip balm, but without the horrible sticky reside.

In terms of selecting colours, I played it safe, knowing that as a blonde with fair skin and blue eyes, I can wear  Barbie pink tones and nudes with ease. However, for my third choice I decided to push my boundaries and select a colour that I don't think I'd have been brave enough to select in any other circumstance. This colour is 'Spiced Plum' a gorgeous purpley tone perfect for autumn! I have always completely admired people who can pull off such a strong statement lip without looking like they've got themselves dressed up for Halloween a few weeks early, always assuming that the latter would be the result if I were to try the trend for myself. However, I was wrong, and have completely fallen in love with this colour! The bold colour matched with the perfect texture of the product (and of course the super cute packaging) means that 'Spiced Plum' has now become my favourite lip product of not just the moment, but of all time. (If you saw the size of my lipstick collection, you would appreciate how much of a compliment this really is!)

I can not recommend these enough! Priced at only £5 they are an absolute steal in comparison to the M.A.C. lipsticks that I have grown so accustomed to buying! Please leave your lovely comments below and let me know if you have tried this brand, or any other brand of lip crayon and let me know what you thought!

Cosmo Blog Awards Part 2 - The Event

This year, the Cosmo Blog Awards were held in the OXO Tower on the South Bank in London. An absolutely stunning location with a beautiful view of Saint Paul's cathedral overlooking the Thames... if it wasn't so cold I could have definitely spend my whole night stood on the balcony looking out across the river which just looked so beautiful in the dark!

Beautiful view aside, there was enough going on inside the venue to keep us bloggers all incredibly busy and excited! We were greeted at the door with free Champagne, and were kept topped up all night long with the amazing cocktails (Cosmos featuring heavily, obvs) made with the lovely pinky vodka (of which we got a small bottle in our goody bag!). All around the room were different exciting stands from the Remmington hair stand to the MUA make up stand. The 'IZ' nail bar had to be my favourite, the lovely ladies showed you how to easily apply their amazing nail wraps and then you got to take a few packs away with you to try for yourself at home... who doesn't love a bit of pampering followed by a freebie?!

As an avid cupcake lover, but a wheat intolerance sufferer, my heart broke slightly at the view of the 'decorate your own cupcake' stand. A beautiful array of cakes, icing bags filled with various flavours and bowls upon bowls of cute decorations. I may or may not have considered stealing one of the icing bags and consuming the whole lot.

The awards themselves were held in a room to the back of the venue, and it was an honour in itself just to be in the presence of the editor in chief at Cosmo, and of course some absolutely incredible bloggers that I have read and admired for an extremely long time! Along with meeting some amazing new bloggers, I was also delighted to be reunited with some bloggers that I have met before at previous events. I always find it so overwhelming how lovely and welcoming all bloggers are and I feel honoured to be a fully fledged part of the blogging community!

After the awards, the party carried on in full swing. The DJ took to the stand, free cocktails were refilled and some lovely male models paraded the room with canapés.... including mini steak and chips. Steak and chips canapés! I kid you not!

It was hand on heart one of the most incredible nights of my life. Thank you once again to everyone who voted for me and allowed me to attend such an incredible event!

(p.s. you can buy my dress here!)

Cosmo Blog Awards Part 1- The Outfit

Last night was amazing. There's not really much more I can say. To think that back in February I sat and wrote my first ever blog post, and somehow there I was, exactly eight months to to day later, sat on a train heading to London because Amyelizabeth had been shortlisted by Cosmopolitan to win a Blog Award?!? Just wow.

I guess the first thing I have to say is thank you. I never in a million years dreamed that I would ever achieve anything close to what I have achieved within 8 months, and it's only because of the amazing support of my followers that I have managed to do so. No, I didn't win the award, but that really doesn't seem to matter. What matters to me is that this year, Cosmo received 47,000 entries and I was chosen to be part of the final shortlisted nine for 'Best New Beauty Blog'. The fact that I can't even comprehend what 47,000 people would look like is just pretty overwhelming in itself. So to each and every person who has ever read, commented or followed my blog or any of my social media platforms; Thank you. And I really truly mean it.

The night was so incredibly special to me, (and I got the added bonus that I was lucky enough to share it with my mum!), therefore one blog post simply wouldn't do justice to all the amazing things I have to tell you about! So I will be splitting my night into T H R E E seperate blog posts; part one - the outfit, part two - the event and part three - the goody bag. So I hope you're all ready to be inundated with #CosmoBlogAward mania.

As you will know if you've been reading my blog recently, last week I attended the Little Black Dress collection launch party at Manchester House, and absolutely fell in love with every single dress in the collection. I went home feeling happy that I had discovered a new website to feed my online shopping addiction, only to wake up even happier to find out LBD were going to gift me a dress to wear to the awards. So I chose the Kate. As soon as the lovely Rebecca from LBD came to my flat to drop it off, I tried it on and knew it was perfect. The fit was gorgeous, the quality of the material felt so luxurious and the feathers added that extra unique detailing that I knew no one else would have. I could not have imagined having a more perfect dress for the night.

I teamed the dress with my nude Carvellas and wore my mum's old gold hoop earrings from the 90's that she kindly gave to me a few weeks ago. I had my hair washed, blow dried and styled at the Guiley Green blow dry bar in Fenwicks (they do an amazing job there, highly recommend it to anyone in need of a hairdressers in London!) And after rushing back to the hotel to do my make up and put my dress on, I was ready to go!

My First Ever Birchbox*

Having heard so much and read countless blog posts about the monthly beauty subscription 'Birchbox' I was really excited when I was contacted myself about trying one out. The concept is fairly simple, you pay £10 per month and in return receive a box filled with lots of different beauty products for you to try.

For bloggers, this is such a great concept as it means you will have a fresh set of products to test out and review on your blog every month. However, 'Birchbox' is also a fantastic idea for any non-bloggers who want to try out some new brands, but aren't sure where to start! The concept also makes for a fantastic gift, meaning you can send a box to a friend, your mum, or sister and be sure that they will receive a lovely surprise!

The box itself is so exciting to open! It was like playing a game of pass the parcel (but on my own, and without the music)... I opened up the postage box, to reveal the classic Birchbox brown box. Inside this were some leaflets about the products and also some information about the vitally important 'Coppafeel' campaign that Birchbox are supporting. At the bottom of the box was the part I was waiting for! The little pink makeup bag filled with all my surprises! To my joy, I pulled out 6 different products; 1. KMS Free Shape 'hot flex cream', 2. Balance Me cleanse and smooth face balm, 3. The Cool Fix gel lotion, 4. Cindy Crawford glowing serum, 5. Pixi shea butter lip balm and 6. a cute little Birchbox lipstick pen!

If there are any of these products that you would like to see me review in more detail then please let me know by leaving your lovely comments below!

Zoella Beauty

I have literally been so excited about this range of products. Zoella is my absolute idol. She was my inspiration to start blogging in the first place and I just love how down to earth and relatable she is despite the fact she is so insanely successful! I would love one day to achieve the success that Zoella has achieved and it would be a dream come true to have my own line of beauty products.

If I could, I would have bought absolutely everything in the range, but as I logged on to the Superdrug website the morning after the launch, already most of the products were completely sold out- a complete reflection of the overwhelming support there is out there for Zoella. Therefore, I put my disappointment aside and chose the 'Soak Opera' bath soak and shower cream and the 'Creamy Madly Dreamy' body lotion. As we all know, I have body lotions coming out of my ears. I could not even tell you how many body butters, creams, lotions and moisturisers I own, but as an avid fake-tanner I can tell you from first hand experiences that there's nothing worse than scaly tan on dry patches of skin.

The Zoella body lotion has a really subtle fruity smell which is a bonus as I don't like hugely overpowering lotions. The cream itself is fairly thick, and does take a while to soak in, but after fully absorbed it leaves your skin feeling silky and hydrated (just make sure you leave enough time for it to fully soak in before putting clothes on or you will start to feel a little bit sticky). The first time I used the product I definitely applied too much, but with a bit of trail and error I discovered that a little bit goes a long way.

The Soak Opera is by far my favourite product. We all know how much I love a good long soak in the bath, and there's nothing nicer than relaxing in a gorgeous scent of bubbly joy with a magazine in one hand and a bag of minstrels resting on the side of the bath (this is actually exactly what I spent yesterday doing on my brief visit back home!). The scent is similar to that of the body lotion, but slightly sweeter and stronger. It lathers into a gorgeous bubbly heaven and you just feel your muscles relax and soak into the water. Although the product can also be used as a shower gel, I am going to save the entire bottle for these indulgent baths as I want to save the luxury for special occasions!

Both products were priced at £5, which I think is an absolute bargain for such great products! If you haven't already, I really would recommend trying these out and if you've used any other products in the range leave your comments below and let me know your thoughts!

Little Black Dress Collection Launch #LBDParty

I love any occasion that allows me to whack on a little black dress and some heels. Who doesn't love an excuse to actually dress up nicely for once and have a sophisticated night out with the girls?! Well this is exactly what I had the privilege of doing on Wednesday night, as I was invited to Manchester House to celebrate the launch of 'Little Black Dress' newest collection- 'The Icons'.

Having never been to Manchester House before, I was excited just for the location itself! Set on the 12th floor of a building in Spinningfields, the views are fantastic! Especially as the evening progressed and it began to get dark! It definitely made me miss the amazing 15th floor view I used to have last year. View and nostalgia aside, I honestly have to say that I was absolutely blown away by the collection. Never before have I seen a collection of black dresses that are so versatile, so fashionable, made from really high quality material yet still so affordable, and most importantly- wearable!

Each dress is named after an icon, and based upon that muse's style, for example Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana. However, my favourites of the night would have to be the gorgeous feather topped Kate Moss inspired dress and the amazing glitzy Carrie dress! (Petition to bring back Sex and the City must begin!)

We were treated to free champagne, wine and canapés all night long, and were guided through each dress in the collection by some of the lovely ladies from Little Black Dress. I honestly could not recommend this website enough to find that perfect outfit for any special occasion that you may have coming up! To make your task even easier, they have sub-divided the dresses into categories reflecting the 'mood' of the dress. The categories include sexy, feminine, glamorous, unique and classic- so there really is something for everyone in the mix!

Please leave your lovely comments below and let me know if you've visited the website and which dresses are your favourites! I'd also love it if you'd follow my blog on bloglovin' and don't forget to check out my twitter and instagram
